Students kept off campus due to security concerns, campus to reopen Tuesday morning

OUPD aren’t having problems keeping people off campus today, the second day of an administration mandated lockdown after threatening messages were found scrawled on the walls of three Oakland University bathrooms over the weekend.

“People have been very cooperative,” said Sam Lucido, OU Chief of Police.
A few people who were unaware of the closure made their way to campus, but were very understanding when officers explained the situation and turned them away, according to Lucido.

Threats written on bathroom walls in two academic buildings and the Oakland Center have prompted university officials to close the campus until 7:00 a.m. Tuesday.  
 
“Our crisis management team met early this morning to go over the facts,” said Sam Lucido, OU Chief of Police.
 
That team made the final decision to close the campus.
 
“Safety and security are the university’s highest priority and the decision to close campus is consistent with that philosophy,” Lucido said.

Oakland University's campus is closed Sunday, April 13 and Monday, April 14 following a safety alert. Campus will reopen Tuesday, April 15 at 7 a.m. 
Threatening graffiti messages were found in three men's restrooms in O'Dowd Hall, Kresge Library and the Oakland Center. 
An e-mail was sent to students Saturday alerting them of one message and campus was shut down upon discovering two additional threatening messages.
